          “DOWN BY THE RIVER”

Have you ever gone with him down by the river,
and lay on the grass together,
because he is the one you admire…
With feet in the water playing footsies and all,
    knowing it is only him,
        which you adore…

Perhaps his fingers brushed your hair with tenderness,
    and you sighed with delight,
as they are his soft caresses…
He kissed your neck, a most sensitive place,
and all you wanted is for him to hold you,
        in a tighter embrace…

Do you feel full of romance by the river with him,
    and as you lay together,
you kissed him on a whim…
But one with tenderness of loves gentle caring,
perhaps one that he would feel,
       and know it was daring…

Does he know, have you told him about your dream,
that you want to stay with, and love him,
saying it with your eyes, as they gleam…
You hope he responds, with you taking that special chance,
    that you’ll always be together,
and he’ll make your heart dance…

Down by the river is a most wonderful place to begin,
    you and him, just two,
        and feelings deep within…
It is also a magical place, just keeps on flowing by,
    reminding of loves song,
        never having to ask why…

Bill--Sounds like this could be a song.  Beautifully done, soft and sultry, yet innocent with new.

I sing to life
To it's tragic beauty
To pain and strife
Let all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I lived through it all

Bill,

Yes, I have, in Ward's Canal, but the minnows kept nibbling my toes; so distracting!

all silliness aside, this is a lovely poem; soft, romantic and speaks of all love can be, with no better setting than water, my favorite...enjoyed....

Thanks, Pat
