A Horse Of A Different Color
By: Noah Eaton
1/18/02

Come and look at how she danced
How he would hold her hands and join the tango
She would just go spinning through her memories
Making her laundry in his hands she could hold
But the answer is "No,
We're just not meant to be,
I'm sorry if you swam a thousand seas to get here
But you mean nothing to me!"

Now a lance is pierced deep in his heart
And he gave it all he could to get it out
And all the rainbows are collapsing onto the open field
Falling into oblivion...
And it's a heartbreaking sight to see...

He places a printing of Munch's "Madonna" on his closet door
Stares at the pretty face past midnight many sleepless evenings
Though he knows he already has lost her
He only dreams he's still floating in her fantasy
He hears a howling noise from the outside
The faint hologram of her apparition
Where he used to feel as light-footed as a Canadian line-dancer
He can't even feel her occultation

Now a lance is pierced deep in his heart
And he gave it all he could to get it out
And while his heart is a empty warehouse
It's burning like the Holocaust throughout his veins
But all the rainbows are collapsing onto the open field
Falling into oblivion...
And it's a heartbreaking sight to see...

The last thing he could see as she passed him by
Was the yellow ribbon in her hair
Waving like a canary in Athens
Only loosening and falling from a sky smoky and bare
And he cried "My canary has died!"
My fairest white horse is a horse of a different color it seems
Take my heart, take my eyes from their sockets
I need them no more, just leave me be...

Now a lance is pierced deep in his heart
And he gave it all he could to get it out
And while his heart is a empty warehouse
It's burning like the Holocaust throughout his veins
His numb hands are buried deep in his pockets
He can't bare to say goodbye
His sleeve is soaked in purple blood
HE WATCHES ALL THE HORSES GALLOP AWAY
But all the rainbows are collapsing onto the open field
Falling into oblivion...
And it's a heartbreaking sight to see...
It's heartbreaking to see...
It's heartbeaking to see...

"If you see my reflection on the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide will bring it down"

Stevie Nicks

this took my breath away.....so stunning sweet friend....

I sing to life
To it's tragic beauty
To pain and strife
Let all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I lived through it all

Love and Separation

destruction and reconstruction
of that elusive inner self
is the only method of
Final Separation and reparation
and, if along the way, we pass
with a sidewize glance at our old shell
we can delight in knowing
that all of yesterday's paths are knowledge
and maps on where to go
for today
(inspired by and written for friend Noah)

Noah, the Edvard-Munch expressionistic painting was a wonderful touch to a perfect description of Love and Seperation....sigh

Noah, forgive me for pulling this back up, but I went back to see some of your writing as you have been so nice in commenting on mine.

This write is simply sensational, and I cannot put into words how much I too have felt this.

God has a plan for you Noah! Keep the faith!

I loved those lines, such meaning...This is by far my favorite one of yours.  Beautifully sad.

Dearest Noah,

At the end of those fallen rainbows are pots of gold. You may be richer for this sad experience than you think,or, can even imagine. God be with you.

Hope and strength and love to you,

Hugs, Pat

Noah, you are such a sensitive--and brilliant--talent! This really got to me--I mean R-E-A-L-L-Y!!! You've turned your pain into poignant poetry! May the smile soon return to your sweet face! The world is sad when an angel cries.

Warm valentine hugs,
Linda

Ouch, it's just painful to have to go through that, isn't it?  I love the way you wrote this.  The repetitions give it a lot of unity, start to finish the theme was solid and unwavering... I especially like your use of similies and metaphors to try and describe the man's state of mind.

Beautiful work, Noah.

quote:

Was the yellow ribbon in her hair
Waving like a canary in Athens

And he cried "My canary has died!"

This is my favourite part.  Smoky and bare... beautifully put.

Yes young one. Words which have been spoken many times to one's ear. But to move along is all we can do. You will breathe again and when you do, the fragrance will be everlasting.
