In Mime

pallor grips the morn
as the greening grass attempts to brighten
it does so with such motionless silence
incapable of speech
too still for sign-language
still it tries
and above it
in stiff repose
stand remnants of fall’s ecru
and umber
a still-life that lingers
as a whisper frozen in time--
a mime of quietude

I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Virginia, I love it when you write like this. It's just as beautiful as the classic poems I read. Thank you...

Lovely read.

If we traveled backwards, from end to beginning, would the road, I wonder
