The sun is shining
bright and clear
Such a pretty
day is here

But, ohhh this cold
that's on my feet
Certainly doesn't
feel so very sweet

And my hands
are kinda numb
Not much feeling
in my thumb

But, it seems
the rest of me
Is staying warm
how can this be

So to get more socks
here I go
This will help
I sure hope so

But what about
these hands of mine
Typing with socks
makesNOT a straight line
.
.
.
.
.

wonder if I could use these great big fuzzy slippers on my hands?????

Brrrrrrrrrr...(well, ya'll, it IS cold for Florida...)

Paladin, yeah I live up here closer to the Alabama line,
and it always gets a little colder up here. I guess it feels
colder because we just aren't used to it....

I'll see your 25 degrees, lower it to 3 and raise you a couple cornfields.  Wanna walk the dog for me??

Thanks for the hug, Seymour.
I'll bet it is a lot warmer in your part of Florida.
Especially with your living up North before, it probably
feels really good. You know, though, the cold down here
is a different type, it seems. When i was in Germany, years ago,
it snowed a lot, but it didn't seem to feel this cold. Of course,
we had warmer clothes over there than we buy here.
Thanks...

Ethel,

Cute poem. Enjoyed. Here in this part of northern CA. we've had a very mild winter. (so far) My daughter told me
when I was deciding if I should move up here to the foothills (I hate snow and cold and hot summers in three digits, ugh!) from S.F. Bay Area

"Oh, don't worry, mom, it hardly
snows at all here"  HA! That winter I was snowed in for a week....

But, not this year, just two mild snow storms that didn't last but a day or two....today, the sun is shining here too and almost feels like spring.

Sending you some warm hugs, Pat

Hugs, Pat

Is it 30, as it's here?
and that is warm to us, my dear..
yesterday? Just a mere eight...
is this the cold that you relate?

Or are you a balmy forty-five?
And do your rosey roses thrive?
Or do you see the fog in air?
Is it really all that chilly there?

Pat, I love the pictures and movies I've seen that
were made in California. Especially the ones of the California
beaches. It looks like a beautiful place.

Thanks for the warm hugs......
Thank goodness, it's not supposed to stay this cold for
very long. If I could just keep my feet and hands warm, I'd
be okay.

Laughing.... ....I know a "wet cold" is much different than a "dry cold" Ethel...I grew up in California, and lived not but 15 miles as the crow flew from the seashore.  When that fog would creep in, it was teeth-chattering, bone-chilling COLD!  NOT AT ALL like the dry cold of the midwest, where the snow crunches under your footsteps, and for water, you go out and boil up the icicles...of course, hanging out the wash to dry is a lot of fun...freeze drying the clothes and they can just about walk back into the house...

Geez Ethel,

Sorry that you're in the deepfreeze. We're having a colder spell for a few days as well. (8 degrees, last night)

And now you know first hand, why I'm not around too much. Typing with frozen fingers is torturous.

Get warm,

Ed

ROTFL at this thread. OK, I'll behave. I lived for a few years in the Tallahassee area, and remember temps getting into the teens for a few days, and many people had frozen pipes. As for Alaska? That temp still requires having camel hair bikinis ready for those early afternoon moments of  sunshine.
No, you can't wear booties on your hands! Wranx has discovered that truth.

Ed, when I got up this morning, (out from under the electric blanket),
to turn the heater on, I thought of you when I couldn't get my
feet and hands warm. It's still not down to 8 degrees, though.
I know what you mean about typing with cold hands, now, though.
It's kinda hard, isn't it? Ooooohhhhhhhh

Hi Cerenity

Yeah, I'll be waiting for some of that warm 80 degree weather.....

Tell your friend to stay warm. My parents live about an
hour's drive away from me, and my Dad said there's an article
in the paper telling people what to do in this hard freeze.
He said they're a little late with their warnings.....HaHa!!

Our pipes didn't burst, thank goodness.....

I don't know if my feet and hands could stand the cold in
Alaska, even if I put booties or a "camel hair bikini" on...

Hugs to ya

Ethel, I'm ready for Spring. We are having our coldest and snowiest Winter in three years. It was in the teens last night. The snow has turned into a slippery glaze on the side streets of Philly. The main streets are okay, of course, had to have them cleared for the Big Game on Sunday!!

Gooooooo Eagles!!!!!

(sorry, Bucs fans!)

(sad sigh) Let's send some of the warmth from the equator over to Florida again, this is touching, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I really didn't expect all these replies. It kinda made
me feel bad when everybody started talking about it being
8 degrees or below. But, it really did get into the low twenties
here night before last....and yesterday I couldn't get my feet
or hands warm, it seemed. I think the wind blew a lot
of cold air in.
It's nearly time for the 10:00 news, so I'm going to see

I've really been missing you around here. I hope all is well with you.

I'm glad that it made you smile.
Yeah, it was real cold for a few nights. It's supposed to be in the 30's
tonight, and then warmer tomorrow night. Maybe it'll warm back up.
I hope so. I'm just not used to being so cold that my feet won't get warm...HaHa!!

Hey, it sounds like you really do live in Paradise right by the water.....
