Sitting in the leather seat
of the silver bird
I watch the tired and
lonely faces of the
week long warriors
stagger to their seats.

The fresh faces of a journey
only beggining
the disappointed look of
a hectic vacation ending

Those of self importance
walking down the aisle
with the little black box
glued to their ear
talking of nothing
at 9PM or planning
rendevous with secret lovers.

Those lost never having been
trying desperately to find
their place only to count
the rows, one by one.

The gray haired attendant
well past his prime
asking for your beverage choice
hoping to hear a pleasant no thanks.
Biding his time
to return to his younger lover.

The journey from the cold climes
to my warmer zone
Delayed as usual
as the white stuff swirls
I long for the peace
the serenity of my abode
only to know monday comes
and I will be here again.

Isn't people watching fun?  You can write fictional stories about them - It's fascinating...

Enjoyed the travel memoirs, saw this scene vividly:
"watch the tired and
lonely faces of the
week long warriors
stagger to their seats."

This one's like a vignette. A few typos, but that's not so important as what it tried to relay.

It's amazing I won. I was running against peace, prosperity, & incumbency.
