Excuses Are No Miracles

the explanation you gave
was just an excuse
you have no cause
excuses have no room
where truth
should be explained
what justifies your pardon
in the release
of duty or promise

it all slips
through your hands
wanting so badly
something that flies
yet you do not
have the courage
to hold it
so it grazes your feel
and touches your cheek
as it passes

and though
it may be true
in the theory of
being blackened
by the holding
of a piece of coal
in tips of fingers

in time
and being
carefully held
that piece of coal
by a miracle
turns into
a diamond

"It is like looking for a blizzard in a glass snowball. Unless you shake it up not one flake will fly."

this poem is a diamond, it could have many interpretaations and be about many different symbols of charcoal turning into jewels in time

This is very interesting. Love the form you use and liked Michele's reply. But, honestly, I've always believed it took the weight of the world to produce diamonds..not a gentle soft touch...just a thought.
The miracle of life is important and different things to different people. Which guidelines we choose to follow is simply a matter of choice between us the the GOD of our personal understanding at the time. GOD'S change, sometimes, as do we.
Warm regards, Pat

if i were your friend, i'd pay you to
write a poem about me--just 'cause pennies
are worthless when it comes to your
words.

prices better not exceed 5 dollars though.
