sundown purples the sky,
already clouded in shadows of smokey grey,
reminders along the firehouse doors,
draped in colors of fallen heros,
across the street on minetta lane,
empty trees hold both promise and uncertainty
of bearing fruit again,
this numbness pervades,
the sunday stroll
on the cobblestone streets
of the east village

Beatiful and sad, the trees will bare fruit if we tend them. Now that I have a better understanding of it, it's all the more bittersweet. May god tend those that gave and lost their lives on 9/11

it is beautiful, isn't it? I've seen it over and over again...relentlessly.

"this numbness pervades"--these words say it all--quite lovely in its depth!
