Last night I saw a poem,
...streak across the sky,
I had not seen that ode before,
...before she whizzed me by,
That poem was a sight to see,
...she really caught my eye,
As pretty as a rose bouquet,
...as sweet as cherry pie.

Her rhyme was so appealing,
...her form was ooo-la la,
There are no words that can describe,
...the splendor that I saw,
For her words were not of men,
...but from the gods above,
She sang of stars and Luna's glow,
...the depths of Eros' love.

I called out to seek her name,
...she paid me not a heed,
No answer was forthcoming,
...in fact increased her speed,
It took but just a second,
...before she left my sight,
But she will stay with me forever,
...fair poem of the night.

Where have you gone my poem fair,
...sweet object of my desire?
Do not you realize you've lit,
...my heart on poetic fire?
Forever will I seek you out,
...as I gaze into night's sky,
Searching, seeking thy perfect rhyme,
...until the day I die.
