writing, writing, writing
words, words, words...

waiting for the lottery
is probably easier
than the next line
always the same
day pushes in line
for a place and a space
in the week...
every night is long
and offers no remorse
for being spare with words
wine , pleasant fruit of the vine
was so deliciously warm and happy
now spilled and mixed with ink
poetess is wasting life on paper
erasing misery
filling in the blanks
emptied glasses
count in silent measure
spaces in between each letter
oh poetess...

writing, writing, writing
words, words, words...

she is lonely, lonely, lonely
children nearly grown
but she always works at home
it was the dream then
that consumed her
lioness who ate the mouse
yes poetess...

writing, writing, writing
words, words, words...

poetic justice an oxymoron
in this vast wasteland of time
and space
the world passed her by
like a racing yellow cab
in desperation of the dream
she wrote i love you
to anyone who would listen
in her youth, they listened
her words like gems, glistened
she the poetess...

writing, writing, writing
words, words, words...

the poetess tossed all her lovers
in the yellow crumpled paper wastebasket
Some? she filed them carefully
in the pages of her dream book
the select? just a few...
she placed in her repertoire as poetry
with all the dreams of
past and present
peace and harmony
life and death
truth and lies
and too...all the what ifs
the beautiful and unpleasant
the poetess...

writing, writing, writing,
words, words, words...

Poetry is:
Passion, imagination and intellect running together.

Aloha with warmest regards, Cheryl Stewart Koomoa

Cher,  you are not toiling here...You are
growing...and the buds of a beautiful
flower are opening before our eyes...

This is an exceptional poem..

Thanx...

Cheryl, I think every writer feels like this sometimes. Don't you? But, you can certainly write about it well.

Cheryl,
oh yes, sometimes we do feel like a slave to writing, yup?

hmmm, may i ask is there any significance to the use of "yellow" in your poem?
