The White Winter Moon
By: Noah Eaton
1/15/02

There’s a white winter moon in the frozen bowl of stars
Dawning down from afar
With grey eyes resembling Athena
Pale as autumn sangria

You erupted like the dice in a Yahtzee cup
I’m running for cover as I’m looking up
Your querulous sty chases me like a soccer mom’s SUV
I have no time to specify, so call me sedulous if you please…

How long has it been,
How long has it been since I’ve walked in single file?
I’ve got to let you go
Let me go
Leave you like a shot-gun wife in your ghost-town
So how long has it been,
How long has it been walking these miles?
I’ve got to let you go
Let me go
Hand me down…

They call it means of communication
But I’m calling it quits on cardinal directions
The heat itself can’t be ironed
So soften those creases on your own shirts

What you really are, what you really are to me
What you really are, what you really are to me
Is a riddle within a joke…
What you really are, what you really are to me
What you really are, what you really are to me is…

How long has it been,
How long has it been since I’ve walked in single file?
I’ve got to let you go
Let me go
Leave me like a shot-gun wife in your ghost-town
Iso how long has it been,
How long has it been walking these miles?
I’ve got to let you go
Let me go
Hand me down…

What you really are, what you really are to me
What you really are, what you really are to me
Is a dogma without a philosopher…

It is all the same as it's ever been
In this zirconium desert
It's all the same
The white winter moon...
Low riders on streets with no names
Of stalactites and stalagmites
And Cracker Jack mood rings
All that exists now
Is the white winter moon
The white winter moon
Complicated as Hawaiian shave-ice
The white winter moon…
The white winter moon…
The white winter moon…
Rite or right of passage?
The white winter moon…
Routine deceit or repertoire?
The white winter moon…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
The white winter moon…
The white winter moon…
Persimmon or peach?
The white winter moon...
Artist or iconoclast?
The white winter moon...
The white winter moon...
The white winter moon...

quite an effect...and the words lend themselves well to the overall look..box in box all colored differently as are the words, yet a single theme in all...

I sense your pain..and the search for closure within yourself.... not an easy place to be ever...but I know you will find in this troubled time..a strength

good stuff here.... it is often so sad that angst and pain create the most powerful things we write...

Noah,

Past way creative; I am touched.

this really is terrific, sorry you need to go thru such pain though, i hope peace and love come your way ; and remember, love is pain, at times, but its a revolving door if you let it be, it comes and it goes, if youre open to it

It is Kismet, Noah, as just last night i was looking at the early moon prior to sunset: nakedly white with dark blue craters, and thought there MUST be a poem there!  You beat me to the punch, Judy!  hehehe

Awesome poems-within-poems, again, Noah.
So happy your muse is writing with remorse, ami!  My thoughts are with you, Noah.

Now how did you get all of the responses to be part of the color display?  I did not know you had posted this Noah, when I posted mine...

I think I will pull my winter moon back out and sock it in the closet until June...

Excellent!
