I Have Seen a Rose Awaken

I have seen a rose awaken in the warmth of morning hour
Unwrapping velvet nighttime sheets that shield the fragile flower
Unfolding in the misty dawn still in a veil of sleep
Unraveling the coverlet of shadows dark and deep

As little crystal beads of dew form on the velvet rose
The sunbeams gently lifts her up from dreams of soft repose
And slowly shed the tears of night, her silken pearly gown
The petals that once hid her face, are now her crimson crown

the rose graphic pales next to the beauty of your words...such lovely imagery..such well crafted rhymes and word play. Wonderful to read you Poetess Liz.

It's over long before her fall from grace, she's never been this far from safe.
Trying to see where it all began, she'll never be the same again.

I have seen a gracious flower ever stretching toward the sun
So determined in her journey not to fail nor be undone
And despite the many obstacles she faces day to day
She exudes a lovely fragrance blessing all who come her way.

Elizabeth, there's really nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. But, I do think this is absolutly beautiful. Roses are my favorite flowers. Thank you for the poem.

And whoever did the rose, it's beautiful, too..
