Here I sit with empty glass
Watch the clock let time to pass
Lack the word with no one near
Gaze in glass devoid of beer
Which is good thing of sort
Since I was drinking Port
As I gazed beyond bloomless arbor
To the still and now lightless harbor
Thoughts form and sulk away
Mindlessness seems here to stay
Growing as sinks the Port’s height
Darkened along with the night.
Try to remember where I left the car
In case I wish to leave this bar
Where darts strike a small targets
And balls falls into six pockets,
Where smoke still fills the room
And juke box repeats a tune
Played by a lover now broke
When drunken words were misspoke
And he teeters on a three legged stool
Unaware that he is the fool.
The barmaid now sashays near
To refill the glass not for a beer
When done I sip again the glass
And watch the clock for time to pass.

Professor,
Isn't clock watching the absolute pits? This poem is so morose you nearly had me crying in my beer.

Thank you, Kethry,
Pleased you liked it,
But that’s why I drink Port sometimes
It goes better with salty tears.
Morose? Perhaps, I thought it wasn’t so bad this time,
I guess that shows how Gloomy my nature is.

Much entertained by this one, Professor Gloom. I favorite line is with the word "misspoke."
Thanks.

I've been here. And I thought I saw you and the three-legged-stool-teeterer...

loved this write, Gloom. Got me remembering.
