Maybe if I cry a little harder,
If you looked a little longer
Into my eyes.
And if you saw the streaming
Salty gaze
You’d care and show your
Loveless face.

Are there any things to laugh at
That you haven’t already pushed?
If I did better
Than physical means allow
Would you be satisfied
With me?

Maybe if you could feel
The knife in my flesh,
You’d show
A bit more compassion
To the worthless cause
I am.

Obviously you don’t care
Or want to.
Laugh again,
I don’t care.
And I’ll just fail in your eyes,
While I do my best.

I think that sometimes if the fact is family, all the more reason to move on, there comes an unbelievable peace and self-assurredness when you can stanf and say " get back with me when you know how to treat me. "  And I'm not just saying that, I had to do it.

Such tears are usually shed in vain, unfortunately... Only time dries them... Venting them through words such as these is always good, though...

Alyssa,
Sadly, I relate to this. I think that family forgets sometimes that
we (especially family) are supposed to love each other unconditionally.
Not necessarily "liking" all our actions, but still loving us
enough to accept who and what we are.
I know it's very hard, and I feel for you. I hope things get better.

Thanks each of you, you gave kind responses.
And yea, I'm sure things will get better,
sometime. Until then you may be reading a few pieces like this.
Sometimes strength fails, and you'd only hope the ones you love would help you through...
Thanks again
Always, Alyssa

You said that perfectly...and I should have said it to my ex a long time ago.  You can't please the unpleasable....I finally realized.

Maybe sometimes God allows us to be in situations where we aren't being shown unconditional love, so that the unconditional love that we express despite the actions of others will shine forth more brilliantly and make them stand up and take note and perhaps examine their own actions. I know that it can really hurt though. Your poem expresses the pain very well, GG.

Thank you

Denise I think you're right on there. I know many of the people around me don't understand unconditional love,, and though I may be in some conditioned love by those around me, I at least can know and feel the only pure love that exists.
It can be easy to get cought in the pain of all that hurt, but, theres no greater love than laying down your life for a friend, and I have that Friend.
Thanks again

Yes, we certainly do have that Friend. I think He is the only reason that I maintain my sanity in the midst of the pain that life can and often does dish out.
