Searching

I wear the tattered garment
Of a lifetime warp and weave.
And cannot change the pageant
Or to find a decent leave

The ramparts are as cold as stone
And I fear and hate the dwell
They grate me to the very bone.
And bate me like I am in hell.

I cannot fly this torment
And it leaves me weak and sad
Nor can I climb the descent
For it goes from feast to bad

I wile away the hours
Just looking around the bend
And smelling phantom flowers
Until it comes unto my end

Perhaps a broth of better grit
Perhaps a cloth of better fit

Simple wonderful,
A finely wove poem that says much;
Keep searching,
It matter not what we find,
But how we search.

And I shall shawl against the cool
as in the pall I dip mind's pool
for in the all I believe in kind
in shadows tall, in soothing rhyme

my goodness Stinky....
does my "emperor need new clothes?"   *L*

could the metaphors and personifications in this be any cooler? that first verse alone is worth its weight in poetic gold!!

~~~
I'll make you a coat of many colors ...
one that will keep you safe and warm.
One that fits you like a glove ...
yet lets you fly like a dove.
I'll stitch the coat with golden thread ...
to cloak you from these things you dread.
Made from the finest cloth, fit for a King...
this moth will wrap you in butterfly wings.
For this task, I wish to ask but one thing in return ...
write your rhymes till the end of time, Ive still so much to learn.
It's over long before her fall from grace, she's never been this far from safe.
Trying to see where it all began, she'll never be the same again.
