What child is this
who is laid to rest
because no shepherd watched
while his home was blessed
with smart bombs
instead of gentlest gifts?
Haste, haste
to bring him final peace,
the babe,
the son,
of you and me.

Yes,  a stiff drink is right.  Somber thoughts
of the rain that falls never gently upon
the plain of pain...

Darn, this stings!  Why does it have to be this way?

Sy, yes, and all I have is java today.

Barry, some days the flowers have no scent.

Marti, it doesn't, but maybe that bit of truth has been lost?

Ethel, the heart of humanity suffers from self-inflicted pain. Sorry for the pain, thanks for reading.
Billy Joel once sang,
"We didn't start the fire." But I think we did.

A bitter world in which we live but I think we've created our own here. So much said in these few lines about the state of the world today. Sad, but so true.

Agreed with your comment about the B Joel quote, I know we definitely did and only we can put it out.

Midnitesun,

I was not ready for this. How it saddens me. You have succeeded in evoking a pensive prayer, a grievious moment of mournful pain due to the frailities of mankind's sparadic inhumanity to each other. Well done!
