Somewhere over the rainbow
the elusive pot of gold is but a fairy tale
existing in a dream state just for me.

When the sun shines through the rain
I go skipping through puddles fancy and free
never failing to ruin a good thing.

Like a fool damsel in distress soaking wet
a pitiful part I'd rather not play
tell me why oh why should I care.

Make believing that I might wash the pain away
when in reality it brings more heart ache
and one less wish to make.

Touching, sweetly sad.

Of all I've lost; I miss my innocence  the most.

popping in to tell you  that I understand Lori...and that you moved me to write:
Untitled

I missed the write of yesterday
a bit too tired to think or say.
My eyes not clearly seeing him
my mind amassed in blue-black trim.

So here I sit to try my hand
and write my feelings, but understand
I am too tired, again today
my fingers won't type when my mind's astray.

I'm ironing my present, the wrinkles won't out
so I press them twice, my lips in pout.
I hang each thought and smooth to touch.
I'm cursed at the moment, this board my crutch.

So I try to sing but I'm mellow in song
no fairy tales' worth feeling so wrong.
I press again, and the heat I feel.
While the iron is hot, I am cold in real.

The tune repeats and the steaming gives way
to a future in thoughts as the mist, I spray.
Such a stubborn wrinkle, yet bonding tonight
are the moves of my hands and these words that I write.

Lori - such a sad write. You have much too pretty of a smile to waste it being down in the dumps. To-morrow is another day. Enjoyed this. Chris

Your picture tells us you were made for fun!  No tears or puddles -- just smiles.  Nice poem, though.  B.

Lori,  some days,  I think that pretending
is a really good thing.  Sure helps take
the trudge and lighten the step...

Keep your eyes open for the end of that
rainbow..
