The stained parchment lying quietly
among countless other pages, where beginnings
stopped as cold as the wooden floor,
their resting place.

Millions of cells which awoke, became “alive”
yet then to slowly die, the embers waning
into the ash below....intermingling....

Whisper my muse, across the brow of me
that I might find those words which bring to
bear upon my soul, which spark the smoke
of smoulder, that a flame might burn
into the darkest night of write.

Each word, each syllable,   each thought,
derived of my flesh, my birth, residing here
on my pages, beyond life or death.
Into eternal rest among the galaxy of
poems written....written by me..

Treasures, those ragged pieces of mere
paper, containing my gut, my anguish, my
anxiety, my exhilaration...my joy...

For...each new poem, a birth of my flesh..
as were each of my children, held
tenderly, passionately, loved and
treasured....

My own....

many a noble man has defied nature
-giving birth-
to great deeds, stout words,
and shaped destiny
with their inspiration

When are you going to pay your muse
the Overtime pay it deserves, Barry?  hehehe
Great stuff, mate!

Barry, you have such a wonderful way of putting into words all
that each of us feels....or do these words come from your muse????

Sighs and wholeheartedly agrees...the muse who is so tempermental at times gives me pleasure when she finally allows me the write and a new treasure to enjoy the response of read.
Your treasures are indeed as gold and silver and precious jewels and kept in a treasured place by us , your readers.
G'day dear Magnus... a diamond, once just a piece of coal waiting to happen.
But pressure refined Magnus muse to the sparkling example we see
hugs, Cher

Passion, imagination and intellect running together.

Barry,

This is wonderful and so well expressed, you writing what many of us feel, the novice and the master.

Among many lines, I like:

"For...
each new poem, a birth of my flesh"

And, Barry, I am so glad you share them with us. Love your poetry, and the variety you give to us.

Hugs and warm regards, Pat

Magnus this speaks loudly this day. I have made the mistake of sharing my newfound love of poetry and of writing it with a family member who can not and never will understand the power or creation of our works. sigh

Yes, this is so. For the moment I'm very much in touch with these feelings. You, once again have penned a snapshot of abstract expression.

(sigh) Oh Barry, this is wonderful and so very true, sweet friend, I too think of words as ones own creation, the birth of something intimate, and which we weave like blankets for our children of tomorrow to feel comforted with, to teach, to console, to inspire, to share them a piece of what we all are. (big hugggssssss) And only to deny the beauty within is a sterile act, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Seymour, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
