Crimson blush of the sky at first light
lends it's hue to this landscape serene.
Bathed in horizons' flourescent glow
stretch white blanketed vistas pristene.

Fog of breath forms a miniscule cloud
stark in contrast to Arctic cold air,
and reflects vibrant orange of the Sun
streaking over far ridge, as a flare.

In an instant the Earth is transformed,
as merge night with the on-coming day.
Was perhaps but, a trick of the light,
caused some ancestral memory to play,

out again,in which all became part,
of a whole brand new promising start

I always feel like such a tourist reading snow scenes. sigh.

This is a sonnet, yes? educate me, doc. Sigh.

I loved the visual of light on white...the colors in flourescence...I bet it's lovely--er--through a window. (me a southern gal, yanno.)

serenity,
I swear I posted an in-depth reply to this ,only to have it careen off into cyber-space!
Anyway, nope, not a sonnet. Fourteen lines, but, done in Anapestic Tri-meter( as opposed to Iambic Pentameter). "da da Dum, da da Dum"
oh well, blame it on Nan, she's the one who I learned this stuff from.

"A picture is worth a thousand words."  Thanks for the picture.  As for the stylistic qualities, I hope you don't mind if I skip class.

Doc, I loved the picture of words you painted with this, too.....
And about the format and technicalities, I wish I did know more about them, but I don't. And afraid I couldn't learn, now, so I don't go to class.....

Winter is beautiful, if only in your words, Doc! Me, I'm more than ready for Spring!

O.K.
For the second time in two nights I have tried to reply (honestly) in depth to each of you., only to have it wiped out, so I'm going to keep this really short. Thank you.
