I've always hated this time of year
A reminder of what he did to me

I've always hated remembering the pain
Always thinking of what he did

Rape, reminded ever year of the rape
A constant reminder of what he did

I tried to tell someone
But no one cared

I tried to take him to court
But they didnt care either

I was only 3 when he started hurting me
I was 8 when it finally stoped

Or so I thought it would stop
I was molested once more after he left

By a member of my mommys church
I told about that too

But no one listened
I cried, I still cry

You see it didnt stop
I was 16 when another man hurt me

He assulted me at school
I told this time someone listened

I wish I could say it stopped there
But it didnt

I was 17 when another held me down
He raped me, I cried and cried

I told but no one listed
And then something happened not to long ago

I found a man I could trust
He listens and he cares

He holds me close when I cry
And he loves me no matter what

Its finally stopped
No one hurts me anymore

Please take heed to whats written here...so many times a child cries out and we turn our heads the other way....Please if a child comes to you...LISTEN...I know I wish someone had when I was little

And please understand that even after the child tells its gonna haunt them and they will cry over and over....hold them and let them know they are loved...thats the best you could ever do for them...believe me I know...

Akira,  this poem brought to light much of
your own pain...  I understand it well. I
hope this poem helps your own healing process.

What is important is that you know you were
not at fault, nor is any child.

Also important is that children be taught
to never keep secrets,  no matter who tells
them to.  That they should know what parts
of their bodies are sacred,  not to be
touched.   That they have someone they can
always feel safe to talk to if they are
scared or confused about anything.  And that
parents or guardians listen to their children,
for children rarely lie about sexual abuse
or molestation.  It takes great courage to
overcome the shame enough to tell.

I kept my own secret for over 4 decades,
and I know others who did so as well...

A most difficult write for you I'm sure.
But tastefully presented.

You can never take away that which rape does to you but having someone validate it, and you is the key to starting to accept it as something that happened in the past, enabling you to get past it, and move on.  It doesn't make it right but somehow you find a place to put it that is more comfortable so it doesn't haunt you as much.

I can only tell you I do know what you are saying in this poem and hope that the person you have found trust in will become your air, when you wings fall to the ground.

Akira this poem resonates with me because unfortunately a dear friend of mine was raped and another was molested. One was too afraid to tell anyone and the other told but nobody listened. On some strange levels they ended up blaming themselves living in doubt and in darkness for years. I was lucky enough to see layers of them, deep within the child still lives and with time they've been able to heal a little but the pain always lingers. I wish more women and even men would come forward but of course also wish more people would listen and help.

I'm in tears...that's so sad... ...why didn't they listen? *shaking head* They should be punished too!

Akira,
My heart aches for you and all children who suffer in this way. May God grant you peace.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
