Within the past 50 years I made my first debut
And made a lot of money by the time that I was through.
Long lines of patrons waited for the opportunity
To sit back in theaters, being entertained by me.

I was my star's first starring role but he did very well
And so did all the others, for as much as I could tell.
Ten Oscar nominations were awarded to my name
With seven producing statues, greatly adding to my fame.

I ran for more than three hours and, though it may seem absurd,
In all that time no female voice had spoken any word.
An Oscar-winning movie with no woman as a star..
Perhaps that is the reason why I was so popular!!!

Who am I?

Michael, the only movie I can think of that ran for 3 hours probably was "The Ten Commandments" or "The Robe".  Charlton Heston was in "The Ten Commandments", but I don't think it was his first starring role, though, so apparently that's not it.

LOL ... well, I have no idea what the correct answer is Michael ... but I loved the question!

Wonderfully fun riddle. I'll be peeking back in to see who knows the real answer!

Best wishes and hugs,

Off the cuff and in the throes of rolling rock beer I'd say The Duke, the movie? Alamo?
Allowed a second guess William Holden in Stalag 17, a third, the Great Escape Steve McQueen. Elsewise I give up.

Ok, you guys gave it a good shot. It was Lawrence of Arabia, Peter O'Toole's first starring role. It is the only movie since the talkies began in which no female had a speaking part......with one exception. ANybody know the exception?

on the other title, I'm not  EVEN  gonna guess this one.......HeeHee!!

I like some of the title's Toe came up with. If some of those
Hollywood types see them, they'll be making a movie with
those titles, I'm sure.......
