I've watched your
unbent spirit.

So seemingly a tall
strong oak,

you,
who call yourself friend,
and barely,
willow wave
in the
breeze of life.

I marvel,
at your coldness,
    eyebrow raising,
       and your upturned nose,

at other's defects
and
sorrows,
which
bring them low.

I'll have to fight

~hard~

this inner urge,
biting my teeth shut,
to keep
from shouting,

"Good!"

when you are bitterly
defeated,
and  ~you finally know~.

Then, wonder
the lack
of my own
bleeding heart
and sympathy,

you
never
showed,

and marvel,
  once more,

as
justice
prevails!

You,
who call yourself friend.

way to go! get 'em where it hurts!

I don't think you have lack of bleeding heart and sympathy, quite the contrary, Pat.

(sigh) Yes, I too think of you on the contrary, sometimes you have to be cold when there are lies and prejudice and dishonesty and unfairness around, it's all for the better! (big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Patricia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Dixie,

The ~only~ time I have lack of a bleeding heart and sympathy are when people such as described in this poem are finally brought down, after they caused heartache to others. All I do is stay out of the way and whisper a quiet:
"Thank you, God for taking care of this problem"

of course I should have a little mercy but it is difficult and I am not perfect yet! I dislike judgemental, narrow minded people who seem to enjoy others pain... Thanks for the reply.

Hugs, Pat

"Better bend than break" but probably not in this case huh? Thanks for sharing this one Pat, I really enjoyed the way you expressed your feelings.

Rainbowdust,

Thanks for the response, but no, I personally don't think it is better to bend and not break. But, I am not God and try not to make judgements regarding other's growth... BUT..
when in the name of ~friendship~, someone rubs your nose into life, because they chose to live vicareously instead of feel their own pain...well, I find that kind of coward intolerable when it hurts someone else who is open and trusting...when I do feel this strongly about an issue I have to look to see how am I like this? What is my defect? Intolerance, for one...striving for perfection(from others?) which I've tried to get rid of, in self and expectation of others... this situation is happening to someone I care deeply about...and can relate to personally. We've mulled over why people do what they do....the poem a result of that conversation...
And, my friend got hurt badly when she needed support and as much as got slapped in the face by her friend....
Not only hurt by situation she was facing and trying to deal with, but deeply disappointed and really hurt worse by friend she counted on..whom she had supported in the past...

thanks for reply, hugs, Pat

Pat, your undying friendship and support of your friend is very commendable. You are a lot like I am, in that you had rather be hurt or disappointed in someone, yourself, rather than to see someone you care about hurt. I have always rather be hurt than to see others hurt.
I've been disappointed so many times in my life that I bounce back pretty good. But, there are some friends and loved ones of mine who have been devastated by the words and actions of people they trusted with their confidence.
You can expect these actions from people who don't claim to care about you, or don't claim to be your friend, but to be hurt and disappointed in the actions of someone who claims to be your friend and to care about you, is very, very painful.
I understand totally where you're coming from, Pat. Thanks for writing this. Maybe it will wake up some uncaring, insensitive, person who has treated some-one in this way.

Ethel,

No, I think only God can do that.
First, it takes a kind of rigorous honesty few are willing to use, until they have to....Myself, included....
to take a good hard look at ourselves and our fears...

It isn't that I'd rather feel someone else's pain, (not that nice)  smiling, but, I do feel it....in this case it was so unfair...

You are so right, how much more it hurts when done by a friend who takes and takes and doesn't know how to give back, that which they take for granted. enough from me....Glad you related.... Hugs, Pat

Ouch, that had to hurt!  Sometimes we learn the hard way about what true friendship is all about.  Nice work, Pat.

it is so true, "there but for the grace of god go I"
not that im a big believer, in him, but i think this saying packs a punch for my
philosphy and mostly nonjudgment of people

Powerful indeed...
it's in my best interest to bite down hard.

You've expressed so well the feelings I keep to myself and fight so hard to ignore.

I guess someone had to say it!!!

*Bravo* Ms. Pat~

Can I just offer a 'Much enjoyed write; very powerful, and emotional.'? Because that's all I have at the moment.

Hope that was sufficient.

Love this Pat
I know this line you straddle, wanting for these people to get there just deserts but at the same time not wanting to judge or will it upon them. If there is justice in the world then they will get what they deserve and it's too hard sometimes not to want to smile and say it's about time.

Pat, A very good write, and some good comments being shared here. I could go into more detail, but won't other than to say, God will have the final say and judgement, all we can do is pray that He softens anothers heart.

Thank you for this write!   Dennis
