I could smell the coffee brewing-
Hear the creak of our porch swing.
The fragrance on your pillow,
Made my heart with joy sing.

And I thought about the beauty-
Of your face, your form, your voice,
And of all the men you could have had,
Yet you'd made me your choice...

We met in Salt Lake City-
Just before I made my ride,
And I thought, "She sure is pretty,
How I'd love her by my side"-

And I saw you cheering wildly,
Saw you smiling down at me.
My heart was beating loudly,
As I wondered, "Can it be?"

But that was thirteen years ago,
And I no longer ride-
But I love you just as deeply,
Now that you've become my bride...

But what's that awful ringing?
Does it bring danger, or harm?
Oh, my God, I'm only dreaming,
That was the clock's alarm.

In my dreams you still are with me-
And we have a happy home,
Sad, that in the world we live in,
We both are so alone.

Gunslinger,
Are you saying it didn't happen or it did and didn't work? Either way it's vivid and poignant.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

John, I would say this is sad and tell you that I hope you're ok, but I know you're ok.
