the modern age
electronic checks
and digital scales
weigh the habit to the last anagram
lest I dignify my indulgences with trickery
and moods that swing like an ax
negotiating in the mirror
with an abundance of flesh
not quite regarded to
in a “gold mine” sense
withering the circumference
is usually possible by 3 months in 3rd world nations
penetrating the underage prostitution solution
or a month of smoking glass
and eating the back end of a burrito
barechested, barebreasted
we are all the same animal underneath the designer labels
and I am comfortable with that part
when I’m in the jungle
but eventually one has to come home
to the coarse reality of the modern age

may the leopards eat my carcass
and the jackals have a turn
expatriates and cretins toast
my desire to be unborn

Drexler,
I'm not sure I understood what you were writing but you certainly wrote it with style and class.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
