Lest we forget
The passing breeze,
gently swaying the palms
trying to keep up
and stay erect

Lest we forget
The bold moon
shining ever so brightly
on the cloudless night
showing us the way

Lest we forget
The rolling surf
bringing renewal
as it kisses the shore
and leaves its foam

Lest we forget
The childs innocence
showing us hope
an outreaching hand
looking for guidance

Lest we forget
The lonely beaches in winter
the isolation
memories of a summers day
hope for springs warmth

Lest we forget
The loneliness we feel
on a crowded subway
hopeless faces staring at humanity
never to know kindness

I'll take the lonely beach over the subway any day...

I enjoyed this - thanks for sharing it with us...

forgetfullness... is that a sin? i say it is alright to forget- but wrong to be ungrateful for the memories you have had. very nice poem. thank you.
