state of confusion

Signs

They marched across the causeway,
along the span above the wetlands,
stirring snow geese into flight.

From Davis to Sacramento they trekked
in straggling lines,
carrying yellow and black signs
of peace,
reminding me of another time
when I was too young
and horrified to understand.

In this interval of constant threat,
while colors flew in renewed allegiance,
I wondered where these voices were -
kept silent by the stronger tongues of fury
perhaps,
or yanked backstage by a giant hook.

Wish I had summoned the strength
and found time to walk the bridge
with a sign of my own.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Corinne, I know just how you feel, it saddens me to see us more restricted than ever and I just wish there existed such a sign that you can go as the crow flies or go underneath or above it all! (sigh) This is heartfelt, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corinne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Wonderful write, i think sometimes we are too little to make a difference or that no one ever listens, so we sit and wait for the voice of the voiceless and then perhaps we'll be moved to move..

I remember that time, I was old enough to understand...and it is again, just as frightening---enjoyed!

"And it was at that age...Poetry arrived in search of me...And something started in my soul."

why shy about posting it? one sees and feels there is a sense of conviction in it...that speaks to the fact complacency is not always a lack of belief, but perhaps a lack of knowing how to act on it...

as always.... very well done..
