The dreamer in me is a fond memory
pulling at my heart strings, abandoned in love.
My chest feels tight, releasing into thin air.
An assortment of staggered thoughts have no meaning anymore
my breath comes in sighs, stifling my sobs.

Pieces of the past lie broken
as I step over them to get where I'm going
or where I would like to be
always meaning to sweep them up
on another day when the dust settles.

Perhaps when the spring time comes
I will find myself in the company of love.
Something of beauty to tend to and care for
like a rose garden in the shade of the sun
that continues to bloom after the summer is gone.

In the meantime I look for a purpose
a reason to believe in the unattainable
holding close to the feelings
struggling to find the words to convey.

I've risked it all, and still,
I lack the brevity to step outside of today.
Instead I keep at arms length
to protect the fragility of broken pieces.
In time I shall sort through them
and find a place to keep them out of harms way.

While the cold winds blow across my mind
stirring dust that stings my eyes
blurring memories linger long
through another winter to recall.

this one is most definetly a keeper!!!
i really must ask, how much time a day do you spend on your poetry?
do you carry a notebook to jot down any and all inspiration?
these poems seem to just flow out of you as easily as the breath that can be seen on a cold winter day recalled.
are you willing to share "secrets" to you method? i just had to ask, your poetry has conected with my spirit-. thanks!!!!

To watch your step, keep steppin' and keep your head up all at the same time is a daunting task. Somehow I believe you'll be alright.
