Thinking of your poem 'This', Mirror Man

Images that bounce from silvered glass
that look to meet your eyes, perchance
as you study surface films, their reflections
faithfully mimic facial gestures
imposed by thought recollections

does it have to have a name?
won't it appear just the same?
when you dally right in front
when you snicker, when you grunt

a washed reflection returns its clarity
from the bottom of sipped fine porcelain cups
from the plated spoons used to assist your sup
as the mind reckons with foggier tonalities
but feigns to recognize interior banalities
that's not projected from the facial lines

there were times when you combed your hair
a piliferous crop once covered your crown
laid yourself a snare?
healthy growth was there
now imagine what it would be
if that look would return
for you to see.

does the face have to have a name?
it'll still blinks at you the same
when you dally with wrinkled creases
trapped by thin reflections
you search for missing pieces.

Martie, Sy and Diamond

you're comments are all appreciated..for all intents and purposes I had been thinking too of the times we used to hear 'look at yourself in the mirror' and also "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by James Joyce

Warm regards to you Pat and Ethyl,

No saying when the inspiration comes...in this case I think we all tend to look in the mirror for what isn't visually apparent...as well as just sprucing up in the morning..hehe
