There is a word in the English language,
more beautiful than all the rest.

It takes away fear,
calms maddening thoughts,
renews hope,
inspires life,
and reminds you to take advantage
of every moment you have in this life.

It is not "love".
It is not "friend".
It is not "child".

While these words are wonderful indeed,
this word drives you to never again take for granted
all those other words.

This beautiful word is simply:

Thank you Nancy and Sunshine.

Yes, this was a word that was given to me not very long ago - it is a word truly worth writing about.

Thanks!

yea, nice word,
hope all is well
still have the shadow hautning me,
wont go back for a mamography because of it
after 3 years ago,
dont even want to deal with it. and the doctors, blow, they make you crazy
and its all so sad, because women run and do waht the docs tell them, but sometimes it catches up anyhow.........right now, i just coast and rather not know

Oh Inkgoddess, I don't normally like to lecture or nag honest!

But please, please, don't ignore it.  Breast cancer has the best prognosis the earlier you catch it.  And if one doctor doesn't help, see another!

Honestly, I know what it's like...being poked and prodded and squeezed and squished by perfect strangers (why aren't there any George Clooney look-alikes in the 'breast specialist' field?).

But really hun, don't ignore it please!

Venus, this is a very good and truthful poem. This word, in the aspect that you and inkedgoddess spoke of, is so hoped for by millions of people. Not only with breast cancer, but all forms of that terrible disease.
My grandfather died from lung cancer, and my Love's Grandmother did, too. I saw first hand the agony each of them went through.

By the way, inkedgoddess, I don't like to nag, either, but Gary's Granmother had breast cancer that was supposed to have been removed. They said the lung cancer was entirely different, but I we wonder???

A word I hate to be told by doctors is "pre-cancerous".too. Very, very scary word..........

Yes, it is the word that makes you stop holding your breath. Very good. Chris

In a way, I agree with inkedgoddess. I'd rather not know. I had a bad pap once, and they froze me and burned me...and I never went back. Something came up recently where I had to get another pap after 7 years. It terrified me. It came back clean, thank God, but I would not have wanted to know if it didn't.

If i take the meaning right then you or someone had been spared a horror and at the same time given a new lease on life, enjoy it. Loved this

Thank you all.

While I understand the other point of view, I will forever be an advocate of mammograms (though I'll be praying for a machine that doesn't act so much like a waffle maker - and probably more scar-healing vitamin E! oh and those George Clooney look-a-like breast specialists of course)
