The Rattle of the snare
and the bass rolls in
Revolution backdrop
to the guitars ring
Breaking the silence
his voice rings loud
out from the speaker
and awash over crowd

and..

This is the sound, this is the Clash
rise from the rubble and London ash

Lead by the beat
Took the world by its hand
and lead them from the lies
of the promised land
From the council Estate's
at Ladbroke grove
from UK to the States
how they danced in droves

cause..

This is the sound, this is the Clash
through the lies a guitar slash.STOP

****An awful tribute to one of my favourite artists of all time, Joe Strummer of the Clash who just passed away at the age of 50. Not my best work and I can feel Joe looking over my shoulder calling me a wanker for being so sappy but I still thought I'd post it for any fans out there. Sung to a reggae beat.****

Yep, there's another fan here. An awesome band, and Joe will be greatly missed. He and the Clash had a great influence over modern music. I've seen them in concert...awesome. Sad to think I'll never see the full band again.

Ah thanks Tracey didn't think there were any around these parts! Another sad thing is that the Clash were said to be reuniting for one show at their induction to the rock and roll hall of fame. It would have been nice to see.

Thanks inked,
I think their connected in that they both follow a simple song structures infused with reggae, rock, ska as well as the obvious three chord punk. Both have lyrics full of social commentary. Of course the Clash was more politically oriented where Green Day is just the general voice of disgruntled youth. But in the end I guess they are or become the same thing. Green Day is the Clash's younger less eloquent sibling at 45rpm.

Haha, I think you had some bright and sweet blueberries and bananas with those wheaties.
Enjoyed this tribute to a fine musician and lyricist.
