the sky tonight
is an ugly sky,
churning dark and dank
charcoal bruises
against deep purple--
no glimmer revealed to
mascara's futile searching
upward..ever upward;

thunder hurls, not a roar,
but mocking fragments
of a shrill voice--
and through the rain,
I hear nails
on a chalkboard

tonight,
I cannot feel
the storm, the intensity,
I cannot breathe its life;
tonight,
I am an observer
sitting cross-legged
in a weather pattern--
wondering
if I could be
the lightening,
or wind,
or rain--
or,

if I am simply
a charcoal bruise
against an endless
deep purple sky

"And it was at that age...Poetry arrived in search of me...And something started in my soul."
Pablo Neruda

you are a survivor and will overcome the storms
nice write of emotions that are well expressed
hugs, Cher

Poetry is:
Passion, imagination and intellect running together.

Tis awful to be off balance. Disconcerting to be without assurance. Desolation holds all the letters necessary to spell alone. We've all been there. Hope for the best, you never know.

very cool imagery, analogy and personification...
"charcoal bruise" ... such an original image.
emotive, expressive piece..well done!!
peace and poetry,
jm

Will the wind remember the names it has blown in the past?
With this crutch, its old age and wisdom, it whispers no ... this will be the last.

I know these dark storms.....

Happy New Year to you.....

I sing to life
To it's tragic beauty
To pain and strife
Let all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I lived through it all

This reminds me of the uneasy feeling I get when I can see it coming, and it scares me!

You write a good storm Sandpiper~
