LONGER THAN FOREVER

You are my friend,
You have my laughter,
And also, my tears,
I offer my hand in need.
I am a haven for your fears
And a temple
For your triumphs.
I am your friend
Until the day I die,
And even after death,
When I am but a sigh
On the passing wind,
A memory gone by.

You are my lover,
My life, my love.
I feel you
Every minute of every day,
Even when distance parts us.
In the depth of my heart,
Of my soul, of my being,
From me,
You are never apart.
In my life,
You have planted
Flowers - on stony ground,
Where never before
Blossoms ever found
A place - to bloom.

Even now, alone,
In my darkened room,
I kiss you.
I shall love you - forever
Until the day I die,
As a friend
As a lover,
And even after death
When I am - but a sigh
On the passing wind,
A memory gone by.

I like your poem. It's really a lot of good thoughts and feelings.

By the way, it has the exact title as one I posted yesterday....
You probably didn't notice? Not that it matters, I don't guess, but I thought someone else might notice, too.

Very nice, Spirit.

Ethel, if you come back to read again, I just wanted you to know that after my first six months here, I saw SO MANY TITLES that I figured all of the poems must have been written by [then] that would ever be written...

and our poets?

They just keep coming up with more titles...

Keep up the good work, Poets!

I wrote this in the 70S and had it © in 1996. I loved the title then and love it now. Kind of fun though to see a like title and see where it takes different people. All the more interesting.

Spirit...
Sunshine.....
Yeah, I know. Since I've been here I've seen a lot of the same subjects and titles, but, (as Spirit said), they all have different meaning and written in different ways.
I was just afraid that someone else might mention it, and that since Spirit is new, I thought I would mention it first.

I didn't mean to sound as though I was insinuating anything, because I wasn't.

In fact, I don't know if you noticed, Spirit, but lots of times the poets here challenge the other writers to write a poem on the same subject or title. It's really interesting to see all the different ideas people come up with. How do you like the idea of us challenging the other writers on this title? Sounds like fun to me. How about you?
