I try to reach past
the limitations of my own
humanity
and bury the yesterdays
that I hold inside
so secretly,
and my forgiveness
flows freely
only to find
regret,
being held within
my only reprimand.
Now I wander,
lost
just as does
time being blown
upon the sands
of life.
I wear this heart  openly
upon my sleeve
and like a badge of courage
it bleeds       with hope
and makes me believe
in a dream
I pray to last.
Tomorrow would be
much clearer
without this interference
from the past....

I could have missed the pain, but I would have had to miss
the dance~  Garth..

I don't think the interferrence can ever be stilled, Donna.
It is part of us, making us who we are and can't be extracted from our minds.

With this crutch, its old age and wisdom, it whispers no ... this will be the last.

You're a strong woman, so I know the interference is handled well.

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

Thank you all so very much for your encouragement and support.  This was a different stretch for me.  Sometimes the past has a way of affecting the future, and not always in good ways.  It is at those times that we dig even a little deeper to get past it.  Thanks for baring with me while my mind rambles.
Peace and happy New Year to all.

Ah little one...now look at the poem, and then look at the signature line!  Too late we learn that our early moves will come back to haunt us...too bad that we cannot be born old and wise, and grow young and foolish.

A good purge...
but don't put Garth away just yet!

I sing to life
To it's tragic beauty
To pain and strife
Let all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I lived through it all

I understand this completely!
There are some things that are better left unsaid.
We are alone in our thoughts and with the past
that makes up a part of who we are.

Thank you for your Gentle Spirit and the soft brush of your words.

Hugs Donna~

Donna,

A wonderful poem. I have learned when the past keeps coming up, it is important for me to take a 'painful' look at what was wrong with me, not what was wrong with them. Not an easy task, but possible. And just sort of plant those new seeds of knowledge gained from old experiences, so that new happy living grows in future's garden.

Hugs and love,  Pat
