Somehow
I've seen a hint of light
Something is shining through
into my blackened soul
But I've seen this before
it came only to leave me
and it left me cold
I've hardened
Lost innocence
And still I fear another loss
A loss of the light that momentarily brightens my soul

I know this all to well.  Jaded, wishing for the light, but fearing its disappearance once again.

This is beautiful.
