Years ago I met a woman
a next door neighbor to my heart
she was a friend so near and dear
who broke me down with tears.

Among my happy trails
I surfed a longer board
and rode the wave of poetry
that opened up a door.

I met a man who spoke the words
a love to call my own
until he read to me the riot act
while playing cat and mouse.

But he too broke me with a tear
and left me for another
so in the long and short of it
I don't have much to show.

I wrote a letter to a friend
but my words came out all wrong
I broke myself with my own tears
and ruined my own song.

If only I could define the meaning
and go back to the beginning
perhaps you'd understand
the extent of all my tears.

But I would never ask of you
what I myself can't comprehend
for the baggage that I carry
shall weigh me down until the end.

In between life's shifting gears
lies the blue of all my tears
a part of me that I can't rid
second guessing my old fears.

For all the paths I've taken
I've met with disappointment
a turning point of years
save for the tokens of my tears.

How I wish I could go back and change
the damage that's been done
in hopes to come to terms one day
with the woman I've become.

My boyfriend often tells me...I punish him for what was done to me by someone else.
I sure have been trying to work on that...but it's not always easy.

Your message came through loud and clear Blues....gosh it is hard not to call you Sea. *S*

Salty Girl~  I can tell by what you said that you read me as I intended to be read.  I'm not real keen on these feelings that come back to haunt me, but haunt me they do.  Thank you for understanding.

Heart hugs to you~

Hey Lori.......

I know how you feel about things of your past, too.
Have you heard the song Travis Tritt put out last? Gary says they
wrote that song for him to give to me. It's called
"Strong Enough To Be Your Man". Actually I'm not a big fan of his
(I like soft rock better), but the woman he's describing in that
song sounds an awfully lot like me........

Gary keeps telling me, too, that he's not someone from my past,
but that he's himself. I try to remember that, and succeed most of the time.....
