Once I was...yet I can never be... For the feel of what was...was too much.. Too much for me...as the tears fell upon the dust of earth.. Months have taken the well of tears away have brought before me the calm after a storm which raged.... slowly relenting into the still of my nights....as torrid days passed and the cool of sheets have said farewell. My bed lies ruffled by daily sleep, rumpled by dreams of what cannot be remembered, with a feeling of what was, without knowing... This void, felt as though the Universe might fit within....now but a mere speck of a star upon a darkened horizon...Filled ever slowly, as lives are loved and loves are lived beyond the moment of what was... Now....as each rise of the light graces my heart, I awake to a new breath....a new emergence of myself...as I remember what was, and live that which is now....but a part of me... Barry, To me, this is by far the best poem you've written and most are tremendous. What Is...Is! I totally relate to this and it almost brought tears to my eyes. Am glad peace has returned. Barry, I relate to a lot of your poetry, but this one more than any of the other, I think. A person can really know they have grown in life if they can do as your poem says. I'll think that I've gotten there, and then all of a sudden I'm thinking of how things "used to be"........  "Love makes the world go around" |
