Political agendas.
Last year's,
this year's,
next year's.
The Stated ones you'll
get served up again,
and again and again.
It's those hidden agendas
you need to understand,
those leftovers,
unfinished from
previous generations
of administrations.

I want to know
if Peace plans
are anywhere on
anyone's agenda?
I'd like to see
your strategy
for ending
not starting
another war.
I've  already heard
all the other agendas,
and they never seem to list
anything constructive,
never seem to offer
HOPE or PEACE.

Serve me up something new,
or keep your agendas to yourself,
thank you.
All they do is waste paper
and time,
use up more airwaves.
I'm better off
spending my days
reading poetry and prose
and planting seeds
of Love and Peace.

Amen, with the chimp in power there and a gimp in power here, I've long since lost interest in any agendas or propeganda they have left to spew. Poetry and art the only decent byproduct of the human spirit left and even this is waning.

Kacy,

Well written, well said! Liked the last few lines, especially.

Make love not war....
I'm stuck in the 60's what can I say!!

It's a sad case scenario how little the agenda has changed though.

Peace kacy~

Shadows and Bluesy, Peace to y'all.
Sad but true, the agendas seem to vary very little.

I agree with you also - would like to know how much crusader, oilman, testosterone binding etc is at work in the mind of our leadership - thanks for a poem sharing the edge against war!!!  Paul

It's a shame it has to be this way...but what do you do?..Do you sit back and let terror rule..world wide?....Do let innocent people be left begging on streets and abused and tortured?....I don't have the answers, nor does our government....Sad world we live in isn't it?

Yes, peace and love are best. I wish the people who went around bombing buildings filled with civilians thought so too. I wish the people who blow up embassies were interested in peace talks. That's what ambassadors are for. Sigh.

Kacy, indeed we are powerless to do anything Significant and world-changing but we can always do the best we can...Sowing those seeds right along with you...may they flourish in the coming year..

Martie, Paul, Toe, Nan, Kaile....thank you for taking a moment of your day to read and reply, and for helping to nourish the seeds of love and understanding that may lead to peace.

The closer the agenda gets to Iraq, the more upset I get. I came out of the Vietnam era and it wasn't pretty. Let's all plant flowers and then wear them in our hair.

This was a thoughtful and well written piece and I hope someone out there is listening.  HELLOOO ......

Hugs, Marti

Helloooo, peace to you.
I am afraid too many of those flowere will be planted upon graves this year.
Thanks for always being one of the peaceful flower-child die-hards.

I agree with you totally, Kacy........
I wish so much that peace could be accomplished.........
It must first start in each individual's heart, don't you think?
I hate for the leaders of our government's to not think
of anything except "Power" and more of their own desires.
Sometimes I wonder why we even have elections, because
where is our "voice" when so many important issues come up?

I'd better hush before I REALLY get started and start a very
big controvery here. I've learned that lots of people never agree on two things.....
politics and religion.........
My Dad is one of those that will argue about politics until the
other person just shuts up. He is a Democrat and votes democratic all
across the board....no matter what.
I personally feel that the "person" should be voted for, not the Political Party.......
And how the person feels about the issues being brought forth....
not whether the person is a Democrat or a Republican.
Lots of religious groups think otherwise, though....

Now, I came back and said lots more than I meant to. Good thing my Dad
doesn't have the internet. He certtainly doesn't agree with me on lots of my views,
so I just try to not discuss them with him...

Ethel, please don't 'sit on it' ....the voice, that is. It is OK , no it is FANTASTIC that we have differences yet can remain civil within these blue boundaries. Now if only we could expand these blue love walls.......

Kacy, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could expand the "love and peace" that is shown every single day here at PIP?

That's what I meant...it starts in each individual heart. Just wish that more in political powers all over the world would want peace and love instead of war and hate....

What a conscious-raising poem. Thanks for sharing.
All the artists (poets, painters, writers, actors, etc) in America must unite to challenge dictatorships at home and abroad. I believe us people as artists do have the power to change our world. What's shocking is that in my beloved land of lady liberty people think that they can get away with vote-rigging in Florida (and other states). Artists of the must rise up and say YES to FREEDOM and NO to OPPRESSION. The Yankees fought the south (to liberate African-Americans) and the British (to liberate America from imperialism). Don't let our fight for freedom be in vain.
