He saw my opening moves.
Evasiveness never sat well
upon my board of life.
No, he quickly moved in
to capture me;
it only took three moves.
He was a grand master,
I a mere disposeable pawn.
My defensive strategy
lacked the means to
avoid this mate.
I was overpowered
by fate.

How is this on the second page and without a single reply? Kacy, back to the first page with you where people can learn a thing or two from your exquisite writing like I do.

Raph? Thanks. I always have my 'marker' set for 50 per page, sometimes 100. Everyone stays on page one longer for me. You are so kind and generous with your reply.

Shadows, thank you for taking time to read and reply, always.

No, Raph is right.  I went looking for this because I have my numbers set at 100, and you were WAY down there.  I had some stuff to do, went back to look for it, even went to page 2...[101-200] and it wasn't there!  Very very glad it found it's way back to the top...

but your poem reminded me I have to go pack my chessboard for my son-in-law...he fell in like with it and I thought I would give it to him....

good stuff here, Kacy!

Thanks Sunshine! Hope that chess set gets used regularly! It's a great game, one that all intelligent sentient beings can learn from and have fun with....my opinion of course.

Kacy,

Concise and to the point. You captured a very real part of life, for many, including me.  Enjoyed.

Kacy, I also have my page set for 50 and you posted this afternoon while I was off the computer. I love to read your poetry. Sorry I almost missed this one.

Gary loves to play chess, but I've never learned how. He wants to teach me. Do you like it a lot?

Thanks for sharing, Lady...

I'm just back from vacation and I too would have lost this on the second page. It is a lovely description of a courtship.  KJ

Kacy,  being a fan of chess,  and having
recently written a chess poem,  "Queens Gambit...CheckMate".....I was drawn quickly
to this title once I saw it...

Nice use of the game,  it's pieces...very
cleverly done...

Anyone up for a game?
LOL. Watch out for my opening pawn moves, they may not be traditional or predictable.
