Naked Truth

Recognizing my vulnerabilities,
knowing my weaknesses
and realizing when my resolution
begins to sway,
I cloak myself behind smiles
that could brighten rooms
with laughter
in hopes that the world
might see
a stronger me
and not the
shadow
of
what used to be.

My armor is fashioned
to show only that which
I would allow the world
to see
but here
I am     alone
with the naked truth~
the very heart and soul
of me.

I know that you can 'read' me
but can you  'hear'  "me"?

I think we all,  for I surely do....have a
part of us that we cover and keep to ourself.

I do...but bit by bit I let a glimpse of
me come to light...

Your name conveys well the spirit of the
real you...

Donna, I really related to this poem. There are times in my life that I have such an ache inside. I try to always wear a happy face, though. Sometimes nobody knows how I feel inside, (except Gary). I guess one of the reasons I love him so much is because he loves and cares for me enough to know how I really feel. He says that I can fool most people, but even on the phone, he can hear a little difference in my voice, he says. Every time I'll think I've got things I don't really want to talk about pushed back far enough that not even he can see them. But he always does......
Thank you for this poem, friend. I didn't mean to say all that, but it just came out, I guess....

Alone, yet surrounded by many of us naked poets.
? Hope you aren't laughing too hard at this reply.

Like the tears of a clown.
I lived here  before...scared to be alone with my own thoughts.

Impelling write!!!!

Boy oh boy Donna, how many times I myself have led others to believe I am carefree as a bird on the wing. I almost fooled myself a few times. Great write!! hugs, Chris

Beautiful words Gentle Spirit. It's only in learning how to deal with the naked truth of ourselves that we evolve into something better.

What is at the heart
of your armor
is truth...
which you give,
tenderly.

Smiling here...

and is not the naked truth the part of us we are most modest about in public? May the truths in you be seen as the light they are... and what shadows that are there only as shade for a pause as you find the more.

angsana, strength and resiliance sometimes are born from the truths of who we are and what we have endured.  Thank you......so very much for leaving your thoughts.
