And From My Past

I rise into memory, always
these eyes tired of thought.
The brightness of the morning stinging of know,
loneliness returning to shadow the day.

I glimpse you into being, worship the warmth
that from my past of yesterdays,
drives the force in me today,
my heart beating slowly,  waiting,
wondering if wishes do come true.

I watch for words, listen for sounds
and from my past, journey to a touch
that often cannot be described,
one that strips me of this shell
hardened from a fall, softened only
by your lips.

A caress that spreads, navigating its way
sometimes overwhelming, defeating my fears
submerging me in a pleasure
that secrets itself from others.

I think about love and remember its want,
the newness of, its need to change,
growing deeper as we age, the moments of the past
attacking the strength that built a life

and wonder if it was ever real,
and why does the inner me
wish for it again, to hold it in my hand,
to taste its touch on waiting lips,
to hear its song whispered in my ear.

Isn't it enough
just to know that I can feel
and from my past,
that these memories were real?

M

I think that the longing, the wishing and wanting is something that everyone feels at some point of time in their life....and you write this so very well.  This tugs M.  Well done.

Barry, thank you, sometimes I think the poetry is slowly phasing out of my life...like maybe this was a temporary need.
