He walked out
to the foot of the lake
stood in the very spot
where they had danced
under the stars and moon
while love had sang a tune
to them from time ago

As the breeze off the lake
served to try to dry
the stream upon his face
he softly hummed the tune
that before he had heard
under the moon
at this place

The remembrance of steps
crept into his mind
as with his shadow he danced
beneath the stars for one last time

Unlike before
when earth had stood still
gone was romance
replaced by a chill

As he remembered the soul
he saw in her eyes
gentle wind began to blow
as if softly
it heard his demise

A step to the left
a swirl to the right
he silently wept
while dancing this night

Shadows was his partner
remembered romance his stage
he dreamed all he could garner
from love's expensive wage

As he danced on in the night
a storm approached from the north
he paid no mine
and danced in time
to the memory
back and forth

The blizzard raged
the temperature fell
he danced and danced
remembered romance
his mind brought back to well

The next day they found him
frozen in time
his last dance now complete
his tracks all around
upon the ground
where he had placed his feet

And as his body was placed into the ground
without a sound
the winds did once again blow
silent romance
she remembered their dance
at the foot of the lake
so long...ago

I mean...

some people call me Shadows...and I danced by a lake with a man on a night and...well, that's another story...

nevermind, it's just strange that you would write this...

your real name isn't Karl, (gulp) is it?
