Youth Between The Ears

In the mirror I see old -
man with gray,
left-over hair,
almost gone,
barely there.

Wrinkles mar once smooth -
age spotted face looks back,
tries to smile, fails...
behind still twinkling blues,
something, something … way back.

Voicing the lie -
youth between the ears
doesn't live anymore,
it died...died...
with the years.

Mirrored face tries to place -
age bypassed youth...when?
When did the tortise pass the hare,
could it have been...have been,
then?

Age belies –
thoughts within,
youthful skies…
so many years couldn’t have,
couldn’t have,
past by.

In the mirror I see old -
man with gray,
left-over hair,
almost gone,
barely there.

Lying mirrors always show –
only skin hides –
truth within,
youthful soul,
still wet with birth…

Man with gray,
left-over hair,
see him,
see him –
could that be me…
standing there?

I am always entranced by your keen insights, and beautiful poetry...it is full, rich with good thoughts, and searching eyes.
Perchance the mirror of merit is that within... Smiles from ThisDiamond

When did the tortise pass the hare,

I like that line...it puts it all in perspective!  Getting older isn't such a bad thing as your poetry proves...

There's wisdom there in the mirror!!

Good to see you here, I've missed reading your work....
Happy New Year James~

Jimmy,  you know that you are writing about
the both of us,  don't you?  Or at least I
would say that I can surely relate very well
to this revelation...

James, you really know how to write whatever you're thinking and very well, too...

Jimmy

My mirror tells me those same things...but I have always seen the truth in you..wisdom of old and sweetness of youth.

Can only repeat what everyone else said. I often see a combination of several aunts and my mother, remembering when I thought them real old, at 55-60.....hahahha..smiling here...
for that is where I am now, not feeling 'real old' at all.

and here we all are, young at heart.
Often wondered with all the wisdom gained just why we couldn't be 'older' first! Wonder what our youth might be like.  Pretty boring, no doubt!

Enjoyed.

Warm regards, Pat

This is greatly written.. wonderful insight onto your thoughts.

Even youths grow tired and weary.... cherish your wisdom; for you certainly hold much.

Keep writing!
Always, Alyssa

This may just be some sort of youthful misundestanding of age, but isn't wisdom and maturity sometimes more important with "youth"?  *smiles* besides, what exactly is the definition of "youth"?

(sigh) Oh James, this is wonderful, sweet friend, always embrace the boy within your heart and let his love be released, as we are all forever young and to let it slip through our fingers can be callous! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet James, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

What's in between the ears doesn't seem to age, but can get wiser with time and experience.
Well done, enjoyed the post. Wishing you Peace!
