Starting Over By: Paul Wilson Words spoken by you… feelings from your heart Words of hope bring promise… of a new start Why now I ask… as my heart sings the blues How do I choose… Either way I can lose Seems a lifetime has passed since we last talked My tears fell … as slowly from you I walked That day we turned our backs on each other Heart cries… there will never be another The bond we shared …before we grew apart Gone from the mind…but never from the heart All the happy memories yours and mine For us one day the sun again may shine One of those crazy thoughts within my mind Together true happiness we can find Building a bridge of love across life’s stream Or is this just another hopeless dream? Your words give me hope of happier days Searching my heart I’m lost within a maze Will I risk my heart and open the box Should I trust you with the keys to the locks? A chance to be close you say… one more time Every night I pray for your heart and mine Sharing special moments again my plea Return my daughter…take this pain from me Asking these questions…my heart stops to pause Will this time be just another lost cause? Should I say yes and open up my heart? God please guide me…should we make a new start? Paul, friend, you know that I know how you feel about your daughter. I'm glad that you're able to write some of the pain out in poetry. I've been afraid to post some of the ones I've written about my daughter, for fear I might push here farther away from me. After all those years, we are finally communicating a little bit, and I don't want to mess it up. There is so much longing in my heart to see her, though. Ethel~ Sweet lady you are so caring. The reason I haven't done much writing lately was because this was heavy on my heart, but now that we are mending our relationship I have found a reason to write. We saw each other today for the first time since May and the first thig we did was give each other a big hug. Glad that you & your daughter are talking. Take it easy and don't push is the only advice I can give. Maybe share some of your poems with her only, this helps me express how I feel aabout my daughter, because I can write better than I can talk. Have a Merry Christmas.
