I'll be heading out of town tomorrow and won't be back until Friday, so this is my last poem until then. Have a merry Christmas, all!

Mike

Burning rough drafts in the snow
The ground laps at the words of snow,
white tongues meeting paper flames.
Burning notes are casting smoke
and elegies to frost.

Knot and ash is covered by
this willing blank and melting verse --
muddy puddle, dirty mirror
reflecting the blue-hot source.

Rough cuts merely fuel these pens,
boiling ink asleep in earth.
Let the snow come down, to write
of black ice patterns in the sky.

Melting words in breath's suspend,
as the winter grey portends.
Turning flint to sparking stone.
Rhythm's heat to warm these bones.

First... have a safe and happy holiday squirrel dude... watch out for the crazies while you are traveling.

Second... the poem. Like the imagery in here as well as the symbolism... as usual very nicely done...

I need you at my next solstice celebration, you have an inherent understanding of the symbolic ritual.

Make Merry Mikey...and sure wish you could e mail me a tamale!
