Gathered 'round, on this here night
Reading books at candle's light
Sweet memories of Christmas far
One year after the World War

Gathered 'round in feel of love
Unaware of angels above
A little twig, the spirit there
Sweet memories of loving care

My father then was far away
In Indonesian he had to stay
He came home real bruised but whole
He gave nurture to my soul

One candle and a little twig
Made our Christmas still real big
Gathered 'round, some candies sweet
True Christmas Spirit, what else you need

To my Mommy Muys, who kept us safe in loving care

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

Titia...I truly enjoyed your poem and family photograph. It brought back memories of my early Christmas's. My Daddy was taken away when I was only two, and during the war times. My Mother was like yours...holding the spirit of Christmas together with special little things she did to make the most out of the least, to give us more of what we didn't have. This touched my heart, especially, since this year I wrote a tiny little book about all the wonderful memories she's given me, for her Christmas gift this year.

May your Holiday Season be filled with Joy and Glad Tidings. May your Heart be filled with the true Spirit of Christmas. And...may you share all your Blessings with Family and Friends!

Oh Titia, this was so sweet and it speaks to me the real spirit of Christmas. Love and family is so much more important than a big shiny tree and tons of presents.

Blessings on you and your family. Please give my love to Muys.  Hugs, Marti

Let our love circle the world and
bring Peace to all this Holiday Season.

You have described a richer Christmas than most people ever realize. The spirit of Christmas is not the gifts and the decorations...it's the sharing of love between family and friends....Merry Christmas, my good friend
