I spotted you from across the room Talking with the friends I'd known I wasn't expecting to begin conversation I was only trying to say goodbye I never would have thought you'd speak to me In that way that you did so humourously I asked you your name and you smiled ear to ear and with a smirk you smiled and said "My name is Heirbertos, and yours may be?" I giggled and asked you to please repeat I never had imagined a name so peculiar Heibertos what kind of name is that You smiled at me again and said "Bob" I was growing tired and began to leave I said nice to meet you Bob but what is it really You smiled and looked at me with those eyes "The name is Joe and this time it's true. It's been a real pleasure getting to know you." I had been upset because someone had stood me up But with your smile and your humor you made me smile I offered you a ride because your ride was drunk For some reason it all came so naturally. I had never expected to encounter such a character Especially on another Thursday night with the girls Unfortunately for me I had been stood up. Randi's daughter was sick and Jen's car wouldn't start. But who wouldn't thought I'd meet you that night. I drove you and your friend home that night, you said you would call me and I never imagined. That next day at exactly 11:59, my phone rang It was you and you wanted to go out. Who would've thought what would have started that night in the bar when I was alone. I didn't think I would meet the man of my life. I love you my Joseph and although now you're leaving. I pray that you be safe on your Journey for our country. I'll be thinking of those big blue eyes every night when I sleep and again when i wake. I love you my Joseph and although we are apart. I've be your wifey always and forever until death do us part. Even after death takes our life. I'll be waiting for you in the horizon. Just look to the sun and smile. I will be with you ALWAYS AND FOREVER. If we're told we're bad, that's the only idea we'll ever have. Maybe if we are surrounded by beauty someday we will become what we see. |

Thank you for your words. I wrote this poem last night. He leaves in two weeks with the army and it's been hard. I love him and as the poem reads i'll always love him. The poem is definitely not my best but it did help me feel better. |
