A Winter Song

A winter song is blowing through the needled limbs of pine
From distances beyond the eye this melody divine
Has swept across the mountain range eliminating space
Between two hearts that capture what the eye cannot embrace

A bitter icy wind in whistling tunes of winter’s page
Will someday turn another leaf of nature’s changing stage
Another breeze will blow my way, another lovely hymn
Will resonate in warmer days from dogwood’s blooming limb

But let the season take it’s time, let icy chimes depart
From evergreens that live year round, just as a loving heart
There is no season for the pine, no season for the tune
That sends a kiss in frigid winds and balmy breeze of June

My love is mystical as wind and never can be seen
My love is timeless as the graceful bough of evergreen

Excellent sonnet filled with images of beauty. Wonderful read, Elizabeth!

An interesting poem, but what is the point of "evergreens live all year round"? I think that ought to be left to the reader - to find out what 'evergreen' is.
