I want to take the summer night outside my window
and stick it on the tanks in Palestine.

Or pluck a rainbow from the grey sky
and cover porno mags with them.

I want to put sunsets and sunrises
into bongs, and syringes and spoons;

Put poetry on fashion labels,
and laughter into cannons and guns...

Maybe then, people will see.

The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears.

oh wow.

i'm speechless. there a poems that you read
and enjoy, then there are poems that tend
to slip into the crevice in your heart
and stay there. this poem's touched my
heart.

it's on of those poems thatre stuck to
hallmark cards, you know? and you smile
whenever you read them.

the ones that can change the world, almost.

to say that when it comes European or Australian version of English am pretty ignorant. Actually am an ignoramus. Period. Period squared. What the heck is "bongs". I feel that a fulsome appreciation of this poem would require me to understand that darn word you got there.

Yes, yes, and yes. I love your style, straight-up-front, no bull or gravy covering up the message.

LOL, I just read Winston's Q. A: Bong, as in a wonderfully creative device for smoking pot cooled by wine or other liquid. At least, that's the bong I know. LOL.

Hehe... Winston, I do apologise for not stating what a bong is! Thanks for clearing it up though MidniteSun.

Chris, I did try to make it longer, but it lost all its punch and became too dilute. If you can come up with any other lines, I'd love to hear them. Everyone else, thank you so much for reading!

There was a poetry challange here a couple of years ago, to use "if poetry were magic" in a poem. This reminded me of a world changed by such vision, perhaps even into peace. Thankyou for this!
