I kind of wish now
that I’d kissed her
in that elevator

knowing
I won’t get
another chance
to stop between floors.

Timing...it's everything. And what were you tihnking?

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

smile.

my reply?

I wish I hadn't
hesitated
when the elevator did.

I wish I would
have swallowed pride.
I wish I would
have swallowed...his.

I hope it was good for you too.

uhm, D? duh?

interesting little quippet... might not have meant much with it, but it does reflect back on the classic "opportunity only knocks once" theme in a few contemporary words.

i almost never watch television... but, every once in a while, i have to watch a match or two on the PGA tour... i caught a commercial a couple of months ago that showed this guy getting into an elevator after this other guy (who had just sprayed some fantastic deodorant all over the place) left. just as the door's getting ready to close, in comes this incredibly beautiful woman (oh yeah, she was HOT!!!). she sniffs the air, then casts a seductive-shy look at this guy (who's stereotypically normal). He smiles shyly at her, and she inches closer... the door closes -

- and then opens on him (clothes in disarray) and her (pushing down her skirt, with her hair mussed and a big, satisfied smile on her face).

this made me think of that, just thought i'd share.

Duncan~
I'm loving this.  So much said in so few words.
Nicely done, my friend.

So what Christopher is saying,
if you'd only have used the correct
deodorant...

Ah, he's sneaky that way...

Enjoyed the poem, Duncan...but you are always a great read!

LOL. I've seen you on the elevator.
You are smiling, waiting patiently for her to make the first move. Both of you anticipating the first touch. Door opens, she exits, leaves you standing there, anticipating the solitude of night.
