somebody's dungeon

I've had them in my life

  back in time

when youth was mine
and the world wasn't big
but just the right size.

  I placed them

with the memories
of so much that's gone away
thoughts of another day

in the corner with my dreams.

It's been forever

    now

it seems

since sugar and spice
were really all that nice.

The edges of the real world
are precise in their design

leaving no room
for the unfolding of my wings

and fantasy of flight.

WhiteRose - wouldn't it be special to have those simple times once again?

(sigh) Oh Anne, I can understand these feelings ever so much, sweet friend, I wish the world wasn't all cubed and taken as a kind of cubicle and we can instruct our children to spread their wings shamelessly!(big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is touching, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Anne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Great imagery here. Unfold those wings anyway, I believe the sky has a way of adjusting itself.

I've always liked to believe we could unfold our wings and soar with them anytime we pleased.....who is the world to try and hold us down.....don't go gently into the night....I think another poet said that, but I can't remember who....loved this piece & looking forward to reading more.

Anne, this is a beautifully written poem with a lot of truth in it.
I enjoyed reading it.
