When David Blaine
Got lifted and put up a pole as tall as a skyscraper
It might have been a suicidal quietus, an 'endurance test
But it wasn't something of the latent in semiotics
It wasn't real magic

When David Blaine
Stretched his arms like an omniscient Christo
De la Concordia or Christo Rendento
Overlooking some Latino-Americano country
It wasn't real magic

When David Blaine
Managed without alimental haute cuisine or viand
Or a sizable bottle of Volvic or Evian
And hence sans a baignoire, a bidet ou a pissoir
It wasn't real magic

When David Blaine
Got the multitude of the multicolored multicultural
Multi-tolerant Manhattan mesmerised
Without the aid of something pendulous like a horologe
It wasn't real magic

When David Blaine
Foundered into cardboard boxes that his helpers put up near the pole
I knew then that there was physics involved, and as his helpers looked for him
I thought of Bernstein's first law in "Bernstein's Reverse Dictionary"
It was real magic

"am a tourist not a terrorist, don't shoot, cause we are all on a journey to God" Michak

Welcome to Passions. This is an interesting first post that will require more than one read on my part.
I'm only vaguely familiar with David Blaine, magician. I've never seen Bernstein's Reverse Dictionary.

interesting, though I am not familiar with the man or the book....I'll have to do some research on it.

when i read the title, i figured you were
going to use david blaine as a metaphor for
a topic--as in, you being some sort of
magician casting magic [hypothetically
speaking that is]. but i guess you wrote
directly about blaine.

it's different and thats why i like it.
i love the language you took in writing
this. it's dalmost like a distorted
fairytale--and it's nifty. thanks for
the read.
